Just checked out my father's diary for that time

May 7th 2006. . Talks about Mr Churchill announcing VE Day and everybody to get a holiday. With the buses not running it made difficult to get about but my parents took us on the tandem to town. Dalton road was fairly festive but with lack of transport things were quiet. There were one or two drunks around.

May 13th I had my 6th birthday party with a small party at my house. Billy and Ann Moore, Ann Mills, Doreen Shepherd came. (I wonder where they are now?)
