Sundogs on Walney.    This is a photo taken on 15th December 1999 at 3.45pm (Near Sunset). The photo was taken by Robert Smith and all copyright remains with him. He describes the photo as follows. 

"The Location is by The Roundhouse (silhouetted) at Biggar Bank. The meteorological phenomenon shown is known as Sun Dogs or Mock Suns. The centre sun is real but the others are known as Perihelia or
bright spots on a halo (just visible) parallel to the horizon and caused by ice crystals in the atmosphere."
